Hey there!
My name is Sarah (Lukas) McMahon, and I’ve planned every kind of event, from fun-filled alumni gatherings in the sun of St. Thomas to high-profile corporate events and high-stakes community fundraisers. But my very favorite events to plan? Weddings. There’s nothing like seeing a couple on their big day and they’re just…happy. Not stressed, not concerned, just full of the joy that is their day. It’s the very best gift I can give them, and I never get tired of giving it.
But I also love all of the moments that lead up to that epic day. Like planning every detail to turn a couple’s vision into perfection. Like getting to know the happy couple and their families and anticipating all the love they will all feel on their wedding day, especially when everything goes just right. Like getting to work with the vendors I’ve gotten to know over the last 19 years of planning events – and putting those relationships to work for my clients.
Weddings should be about fun and love and celebration and meaning. They shouldn’t be about spreadsheets and timelines and to-do lists. That’s what I’m here for…and it’s what I absolutely love to do.
Five Wedding Faves
Favorite dessert: Marble cake with buttercream frosting
Favorite first dance song: “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra (my first dance song!). I also LOVE a cheesy line dance to get the party started.
Favorite detail to plan: The invitations. I’m obsessed with paper and I love how the invite sets the stage for the entire event. It gives people a sneak peek of what’s to come!
Favorite moment of every wedding: Watching everyone’s faces as the bride (or groom) walks down the aisle
Favorite moment from my own wedding day: There are SO many! But the moment we were announced “Mr. and Mrs. McMahon” at our wedding reception and everyone stood and clapped was the very best. Bartending at our reception was pretty fun too, though!
Fun Facts About Sarah:
Sarah was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and is the proud aunt of George, Eleanor, Claire, Myla and Addy.
Sarah spent 15 years working as an event planner for her alma mater, Creighton University. Go Jays!
She’s also served on the Alumnae Board of her other alma mater: Marian High School…some say loyalty is her strong suit!
In 2018 S. Lukas became S. McMahon, but she kept the company name!
Sarah and her husband Kevin are parents to a sweet (but ornery!) pup named Obi.
What is Sarah’s ideal date night dinner? Nachos and margaritas!
